Saving the World for Fun and Profit
Earth Friendly Lawnmower Repair

Hi, my name is Jonathan P. Glassel. Just a guess, but I am probably the only candidate running for County Commissioner that can repair your lawnmower.

If that lawnmower won't run this spring, please consider repair before replacement. A new lawnmower requires a barrel or more of oil and the resultant production of greenhouse gasses in its manufacture.

The typical lawnmower repair requires about a trillioneth of a barrel of oil for the small plastic parts that need replacing.

Repair and purchase of used equipment places little demand on the world's already scarce resources and lowers demand on oil reserves while reducing greenhouse gases.

Beginning April 1, 2008 we can repair your walk behind mower while you wait or within a day or two as you wish.

We straighten bent crankshafts, have many used parts available and offer pick up and delivery.
The cost for typical walk behind repair includes tune-up, oil change and blade sharpening for about $40 on Briggs & Stratton "Sprint" Engines, $50 on most Tecumseh engines and $60 on Briggs Quattro engines.

We always quote a price in advance and stick to it. We never charge for an estimate or disassembly for inspection. If your equipment is not worth repair, we will recycle it for you at no charge.

We also repair riders, in many cases with used parts to keep costs reasonable. We have used engines, transmissions and complete mower decks.

We have used mowers and riders for sale. Push mowers for as little as $40 and riders as low as $250. We are located in the SW Corner of the old Interstate Lumber building in Hugo.

Pick up and delivery is available.

Please call 612-272-9535 for more information. Fixing your lawnmower is my “Green Enterprise.”

Thanks, Jon

Perhaps the real anonymous is the real dickhead?

I am not making an allegation, merely raising the question.

However, I thank my anonymous friends for their comments.

Your friend is wrong. Elephant Herd is a group of contributors posting under one name. Your friends should be very careful in their accusations. They have now named a person, by name. Maybe it is time to sign names on your blog. Only a person of questionable character would “out” a person under the name anonymous! Your friends should also clean up their language. The words they use only make them look foolish and ignorant.

My original question about Elephant Herd was rhetorical in nature.

I never expected it to be answered nor do I care who Elephant Herd is.

I was raised in the 50's and 60's to the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers and Matt Dillion.

Shooting someone in the back was the mark of a coward.

Today's medium, the blog, is totally new to me. I would never have thought anyone would hide behind a screen name or post anonymously.

In my day there was no shame in expressing ideas. But maybe I'm just an old hippie.

But when in Rome, do as the Roman's do, so I will not forbid anonymous posting.

I appreciate your comments, Jon

Jon,
I respect your position on anonymity, but, there are considerations. Some people feel freer to express their thoughts on controversial issues when they can do it anomalously. The purpose of the GOP blog (yes, GOP, no one is trying to hide that) is to allow debate on many issues. People are asked to be respectful and mind their language. We do not require names. As you already know your comments were posted and not removed, even though they did not agree with the commentary.
In this world of nasty thoughts and language, the GOP blog is a haven for anyone who wishes to read and write in a genuine and honest manner without fear of reprisals…until now. You must accept responsibility for “outing” a person(s) who did nothing to hurt anyone, expect have a thought contrary to yours. SHAME!

As Jon knows, anonymous speech goes all the way back to Ben Franklin. It is time honored.

His campy "in my day" nonsense only serves to demonstrate how naive he is about this global medium. He stomps around the blogosphere with all the grace of a three-legged dog, with no regard for anyone else's security, and uses it as a slur machine against politicians he doesn't like.

But he is perfectly fine with an anonymous poster outing others. Such courage it takes to "out" others (one, or many, whichever it is) while hiding your own identity. Allowing it, as Jonathan P. Glassel does, has nothing to do with any "in my day" confusion.

It is nothing short of a blatant hypocricy. He doesn't care for anonymous speech but is perfectly willing to let an anonymous commenter hide while "exposing" others. Then he pleads ignorance.

JPG, you are a grade A jerk.

Mama, don't expect anything from Jon except the allowance of slurs and attacks (and yes, outing someone while hiding behind anonymity is an attack). When called on it he will respond with his usual "this is all new to me and I'm not sure I understand how it works" nonsense.

Blah, Blah. He's loving it. He hasn't had so much attention since his momma was powdering his backside. Don't expect anything from him except more attention getting cruelness.

Obviously, whoever is trying to "out" authors at CCGOP, is a first class weasel. I have no problem with anonymity (Jon's blog is the best reason to protect your identity - wouldn't want to be smeared as a drunk), but if you are going to use it to rob others of theirs, you are the lowest form of humanity. Karma will catch up with that cowardly asshat.

And, it goes without saying that a cowardly asshat like that has found a perfect home right here, at Jon's little smear blog.

We should be glad two such outstanding citizens have found each other.

it appears if you are elephantman you can hide behind a screen name take shots and ramble on and on but if you not elephantman how dare you
what a coward and a hypocrite
pass loren a tissue

For someone who doesn't believe people should be able to "hide behind a screen name and take shots," you sure are awfully protective of your own identity...when you take shots.

Come out, come out, whoever you are.

Wouldn't you agree Jon? Certainly someone with so little integrity they would reveal others identity while hiding their own shouldn't be allowed the luxury of a voice?

That's what makes them a coward. Not that they are anonymous. It's that they enjoy that luxury while stealing it from another.

But guess what? There is really no such thing as anonymity on the internet, if you know what you are looking for. The coward will be identified. It has already been narrowed down nicely.

I wonder if they'll enjoy being on the receiving end of the same treatment.

Sleep well.

Incidentally Jon, in regards to your earlier comment:

"Shooting someone in the back was the mark of a coward."

Just think, you provided the bullet in this case. Way to go.

Then there's this:

"Today's medium, the blog, is totally new to me. I would never have thought anyone would hide behind a screen name or post anonymously."

As I have explained again and again, posting anonymously or with a screen name has nothing to do with courage. It is a security measure designed to keep oneself from being smeared, attacked, or stalked by a global medium.

Would you want your phone number posted on a prison bathroom wall? Your address listed at a gathering place for sex criminals? Your social security number in a forgery database? You have opened E-herd (or herds) up to a world of stalkers, criminals, and sickos.

You just don't get this "global" thing do you. As someone who has been attacked BY NAME as a "child abuser" and "terrorist" on the internet, I can tell you it isn't pretty. I had to plead with law enforcement just to get my good name back.

All you have done here is allow an anonymous person, without any possibility of repercussion, to endanger someone else's identity. Should people be made vulnerable to every type of predator on the planet just because you "don't understand how this internet thingy works?"

You represent the very worst the blogosphere has to offer. Claiming ignorance is not a defense. It is a cop out. If you don't get the medium than stay the hell off it. You, more than most (think perjury, harassment), should know that ignorance is not a defense.

With power comes responsibility. You embrace the power of a blog but ignore any sense of responsibility. In your short time you have managed to smear an honorable person on a personal level without any provocation, and now have hosted a place for some spiteful jackass to irresponsibly put someone's identity in jeopardy.

Is this what we can expect from Glassel "leadership" in Chisago County? You are not only ignorant and dense, you are dangerous as well. E-herd did nothing but post totally legitimate opinions on political matters that concern all. You, and your little anony-troll have responded to that not by arguing a point, but by jeopardizing his/her/their security and the security of their families.

I have to believe you would expect better from constituents and commentators were you ever elected to office.

The sphere has a long memory Jon. In fact, it is forever. You can expect that what you give off will come back to you in spades.

Personally, I can't wait for the chickens to start coming home to roost.

Jonathan P. Glassel said...

I certainly appreciate all your comments.

I still don't care who elephant herd is, perhaps he can change his name to something else to protect his true identity.

However, it is still important for the electorate, the voters to know what the candidates and political bosses stand for.

Hiding in obscurity is voter deception in my book.

During this campaign season, I expect to be the only candidate discussing the issues facing South County voters.

No doubt I will be outing all of the various candidates about their stand on the issues facing the voters.

Thanks, Jon

No one at the Chisago County blog is a candidate you dolt. And their positions are clear as day.

At least this shows what you stand for. On top of personal smears, you also support the reckless use of the internet to put others at risk.

Good to know. I will be sure to point it out to your opponent and anyone I know who votes in your area.

Hi Cheers,

Why didn't you copy and paste my response to the libel you just posted?

Anyone interested in my response, should enter "jonathan p. glassel"
in google.

It will take you to a host of sites where people can defame anyone in complete anonymity.

I think these sites are some of those work from home scams.

Strange world we live in, isn't it Cheers.

Actually, they can skip google. The link posted above, embedded under Mr. Glassel's name, will take you straight to the site, where anyone can read about the trail of crime and tears the Glassels have wrecked across the Midwest.

Before you align yourself too closely with my enemies, perhaps you should check out their records.

As you know, Joe Duback stuck his lit torch into a gasoline tank. I pulled him from the resultant fire and saved his life. I was under no legal obligation to do.

Had I let him die, we would not be having this conversation today.

I have no regrets about saving Joe's life. The last time I saw Joe, he shook my hand and thanked me for saving his life.

About two weeks later Joe teamed up with another enemy to create my profile on reportacriminal.com

Once again, I appreciate your commnets, Jon
